Mother's Day Cards Part I

New(ish) attempt at style. Decided I wanted to loosen up with watercolor, because even though tight and detailed watercolor is amazing and makes me super envious, I'm more drawn to the looser stuff- there is a lot more expression and that makes it... artsier? And therefore, more interesting to me.
Anyway, taking heavy notes from Tori Ratcliffe (check her out if you don't know who she is), but also not trying to completely come off as a copycat. Wanted to be a little more strict with my watercolor, and incorporate my existing ink drawing skills. I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results (also, the speed! I'm super impatient, so this method works really well for me).
I wanted to make some cards, as well as get a head start on Mother's Day gifts. I have SEVEN mother's that I typically get something for on Mother's Day, so I figure I should get a jump on it. It made me feel super productive and that is highly satisfying.

This one is for Jeanne.

This one is for my mom.

This one is for (Joe's) grandmom.

And this one is for Jamie (my sister-in-law).

WIP Chance II

Trashed the original painting I started for my mom- ended up way over working it, so it turned out like garbage. Started this today, gouache and colored pencil. Still have a bit more to go, but content with progress so far. He looks pretty scary without eyeballs, though...
